Are you thinking about buying a welding helmet or are your old helmet worn out from years of use? worry no more, 3M has the Speedglas 100 Series just for you and here is the welding helmet review you have been looking for. Stay tuned.

Overview

The Speedglas 100 series welding helmet is a light weight, mid-price and high performing welding helmet form 3M. They have as expected created a product with a high quality feel to it even though it is in the middle of the price range. 3M has combined the Speedglas with striking graphics to give you the best protection for your eyes and good looks while working. The wide selection will have every taste covered. You can get a simple black one called Ninja or choose a more aggressive design, like the Skull, Ice hot, Boneyard or Pink ‘n crazy.

Performance

The first thing that you will notice when you first grab one of these is how light it is. Since it only weighs about 450g it is very gentle on your neck even in the weirdest working positions. Next you will notice how good it sits on you head, easy to adjust and set up. The fabric for the forehead is soft on the skin and it will catch the sweat drops. It is also removable for easy cleaning, it’s important to stay fresh.

When it comes to grinding and welding it is super easy to set up. Hit the on button ( don’t forget that or you will be blind for a while ) and the shade indicator will flash, hit it again if you want to adjust the shade. Same goes for sensitivity and delay, just push the button to cycle through the settings. One more impressive thing is how good vision you have with the helmet down, you have clear visibility of the work pies. The 0.1ms switching time will also ensure that you have an instant good view of your weld.

Verdict

I think that the 3M Speedglas 100 series delivers good bang for the buck. Super high quality feel to it and outstanding performance for a mid-price welding helmet. The wide selection of liveries is a fun touch that will bring some life and personality to even the darkest of garages. I would highly recommend this to you if you are looking for a high quality item that won’t burn a hole in your wallet, yet keep you safe while you are working.
